Introductory Thoughts
Effective technology integration supports learning goals while amplifying student learning through active engagement, collaboration, frequent feedback, and connection to real-world resources. This session allows participants to explore Web 2.0 tools used to design, assess, and manage a project for both teachers and students.
Teachers might use a tool to launch a project or interactively create a Need to Know list, while other tools are used to assess formatively student learning. An important part to managing a project is to check in with students to determine their progress with a product; Web 2.0 tools can make this task easy. Additionally, students might use a Web 2.0 tool to design a product. For example, students might design an infographic as a product to demonstrate their learning using a free, easy-to-use online tool. Another Web 2.0 tool might be used by the team to assess the progress of the project using an interactive timeline of tasks completed. The team may also use an online collaboration tool so they are able to work collaboratively outside of the classroom. Technology has changed the way we teach and the way students learn. Educators who effectively leverage Web 2.0 tools personalize learning, encourage collaboration, and prepare students for the future. So, as we explore Web 2.0 tools in this session, please remember to share your learning and ideas with others via Today’s Meet, the back channel we will be using for this purpose. This session is designed for all of us to amplify our learning so we can turn around and amplify our students’ learning. Using technology for the sake of using it defeats this purpose. Amplify the content to maximize student learning--don't amplify the technology--it should not take away from student learning. Amp it up! |
